Wat Traimit, Bangkok
Sukhothai period
This inspiring statue was first installed in Ayutthaya northern Thailand. It was covered in plaster for protection during the Burmese invasions, the statue's original composition was forgotten for centuries, and rediscovered only in the 1950s when the statue was transferred to Bangkok. The statue has considerable artistic merit, and makes an impression of psychological power and spiritual purity. It is ten feet high, and weighs five and one half tons - solid gold .

Siricco Bar Restaurant - State Tower 64th Floor
We had dinner at the Siricco Bar located on the 64th floor of the State Tower, an open air bar on top of one of the tallest buildings in the city. The view is great; overlooking the edge of Bangkok from Bang Rak / Silom area. From up there, Bangkok actually looks neatly organized and a little bit more civilized. Just sit back relax and let the jazz band and their blues singer do all the work a magical night, not cheap but a unique experience.
Then off to Patpong for Handbags and pens...
